The Highway 53 over the St Francis River project required construction of a new roadway alignment and river bridge, along with a second bridge reconstruction over Malarial Ditch. Approximately, 60,000 CY+ of offsite embankment was placed to construct the new roadway alignment and facilitate the new river bridge crossing. Once traffic was shifted to the new alignment, the 2 existing bridges could be removed. The existing roadway fill (approximately 35,000 CY) was then removed and reused to widen and finish the slopes on the new Highway 53 roadway.
